Ladybower Reservoirs walk.

Starting off with this scenic walk around Ladybower reservoirs.

Meet at the roadside parking location just prior to the Visitor centre at 8:30 to start the walk at 8.45am. This is a gentle wander around the reservoir up onto Whinstone Lee tor and circling around past the Derwent dam (of Dambusters fame), stopping briefly at the Upper Derwent visitor centre for a brew and cake, before finishing at the car park.

There is a nice local pub nearby (the Yorkshire Bridge) for lunch and a drink afterwards for those that wish to extend their visit.

  8:45 – 12:00.
   11KM.
Difficulty – Easy.
256M of ascent.

Bleaklow walk.

Let’s go and visit some history on Bleaklow.

Meet at the roadside parking location just next to the bus terminus at old Glossop, Shepley Street SK13 7PY, at 8:30 to start the walk at 8.45am. This is a reasonably physical walk up to the wreckage of ‘Over Exposed’ the crashed Boeing B29 Superfortress located on the summit of higher shelf stones. A sad reminder of unfortunate navigation error in November 1948, where 13 young aircrew members tragically lost their lives.

We will pick up two other crash sites prior to returning to the car park.

There is a nice local pub nearby (the Queens Arms) for lunch and a drink afterwards for those that wish to extend their visit.

Dove Stone reservoir walk.

How about a nice gentle wander around Dove Stone reservoir and onwards to the Trinnacle?

Meet at the Binn Green car park off the A635 road (there is some roadside parking available too) at 8:30 to start the walk at 8.45am. This is a flat walk around Yeoman Hey reservoir and onto Greenfield reservoir, where we will proceed steadily uphill to Greefield Brook, where there is a small scramble with a narrow stream crossing at the top, prior to venturing up to the Trinnacle.

From here we will gently work our way back down to the reservoir and back to the car park.

There is a nice local pub nearby (the Kingfisher, OL3 7AE) for lunch and a drink afterwards for those that wish to extend their visit.
