Chris Wright: ( Clogs )

I live and work in Zwolle in the northeast of The Netherlands, which is around an hour from the German border and 90mins from Belgium where I go hiking with friends. I love going to places in Europe to hike, specifically the eastern parts of Europe like the High Tatras in Slovakia, but generally anywhere there are Mountains is where you’ll find me.

The Netherlands is flat, so in the absence of any mountain ranges I enjoy getting out for long distance walks in the Overijssel district. I enjoy doing the Kennedy marches ( 80kms/50miles ) or 100km walks where I like to push myself to the limit to the end.

When I’m in the UK, you can find me with Martin (Compass) on our adventures in Wales, Scotland or in England hiking up any Mountains we can find . Luckily, we both enjoy looking for the best challenges to get to the tops of mountains, enjoying the self-discovery along the way.

I am passionate about the outdoors and over many years have built up a good base of knowledge and skills including how products work, courses in Navigation, Winter skills, Extreme Survival, Mountain skills and general safety in the outdoor environment.

I am a great believer that getting outside is good for your health and mind, but I also believe that your first step outside is the beginning of a great adventure. Everybody’s experience is different, but getting that experience is what helps people to learn and grow.

My Scariest moment ever? – Nearly getting lost in a snowstorm in Nepal.

Best Challenge ever? – Completing Project 944 (9 highest Mountains in UK in 4 days for 4 charities) in June 2019 with Martin (Compass)
